At KS4, we build upon the skills taught in KS3 and begin to tackle complex and demanding physical activities. They are encouraged to get involved in a range of activities that develop their personal fitness. Healthy and active lifestyles are promoted through all sports on offer and students are taught to appreciate the physical, mental and social benefits of taking part in physical activity. A range of sporting activities are offered with a focus on advanced skill acquisition and application, analysis of performance, leadership, communication, and creativity. Pupils are assessed each half term in a range of individual and team sports.

Extra Curricular Activities

As a department, we want all students to find a sporting activity that they enjoy and want to take part in beyond school in order to lead healthy active lifestyles. Therefore, all students are actively encouraged to become involved in our extra-curricular programme. We offer an extensive range of extra-curricular clubs to appeal to as many different interests as possible. Most clubs also link to the school’s sports team’s fixture calendar to enable to students to represent the school at local and district level. These are published and displayed in the PE department.
